Northside Sanitary Sewer Lining Project
Last Updated: 10/26/10
Project Overview
The purpose of this project was to repair the sanitary sewer line that runs through Argo Park – the wooded area between Long Shore Drive and Argo Pond from Barton Drive to Swift Street.
The project made use of a technology known as sewer “lining”, which involves running a liner down the sewer pipe and then hardening it in place to add structural stability to the existing pipe. Using this method greatly reduces the amount of excavation needed to repair the sewer line.
The project also included the replacement of the storm sewer outfall into Argo Pond located near the intersection of Long Shore Drive and Argo Drive. This phase of the work required the removal of some trees in order to provide access to the site. New trees were planted in various locations around the neighborhood to mitigate the removal of these trees for the replacement of the storm sewer outfall.
Schedule
Construction on this project was completed on October 9th. The footpath running though the woods between Argo Pond and Longshore Drive is now reopen to the public.
